World Book Day 2018

On the Thursday the 1st of March as a school we celebrated World Book Day.

In the lead up to World Book Day the English Department created a short film with our most avid readers in school, talking about their favourite books and recommendations.

On the day itself a book hunt took place with posters of famous quotes from different books scattered around the school that the students had to find.

During lunchtime in the Learning Resource Centre students took part in the “Big Read”. Computers were switched off and students were invited in to the LRC to read their favourite book. Participants enjoyed a peaceful hour of reading time in an incredibly quiet LRC.

In form time students were asked to create a 6-word story as a form group based on the famous example allegedly by Ernest Hemingway "For sale: baby shoes, never worn." It is a form of flash fiction or sudden fiction and the idea is to get the entirety of a plot in to 6 words only. Once submissions come in the Librarian will choose the best ones and award House points and prizes.
