Hatching Project

This week, some of the boys in Years 7 and 8 have been taking part in our Hatching Project.

On Monday nine eggs arrived from Bowland farm in Yorkshire.

After 2 days in the incubator, staff arriving early on Wednesday morning found that 4 chicks had hatched overnight.

Just before morning registration, 2 more chicks hatched under the watchful eyes of Miss Lawson, Mr Vettiankal, Mr Pomeyie and Mr Patel, who managed to capture some of their first moments on video.

Later in the day we were surprised to find yet another chick in the incubator, bringing the grand total to 7!

We will be looking after the chicks until Thursday next week. 'Chick Club' will be in charge of their care; feeding and cleaning them out and enjoying watching them grow.

When the project is finished the chicks will return to Bowland farm to be reared to join the School Hatching programme, laying their own eggs for other schools to enjoy.
