What will your son study?
The Middle Ages 1066 – 1485
How can you help your son?
Ensure that your son either has a reading book or is read to every day. There are a plethora of museums, exhibitions and events that can be visited year round in London which have links to the medieval period, not to mention famous historical sites dotted all over the country that can be visited at weekends or during the holidays. Please ensure that your son completes the assessed tasks to the best of his abilities (you may wish to read over his essay with him before he submits it).

There are also a number of excellent television programmes and documentaries on various aspects of the Middle Ages on channels like the History Channel.
Assessment
3 essays (one per term) and one exam.

How can you help your son?
- Encourage your son to read any book, although historical novels based on a range of topics will always give students a “feel” for the time in which they are set – i.e., talk to your son; encourage your son to read; take an interest
- Take time to talk about current affairs, the news etc., which always reflects, has to draw upon things that have happened in the past.

The Twentieth Century World
How can you help your son?
The usual ways as outlined in completed Y7 and Y8 sheets. However, the emphasis is on different ideologies (communism, capitalism and fascism), therefore, look out for interesting exhibitions on these themes such as the recent portrayal of Communist art at the Museum of London. Please ensure that your son completes the assessed tasks to the best of his abilities (you may wish to read over his answers with him before he submits them).
