150th Anniversary Gala Concert

On Wednesday 5th December we are having a special Gala concert to celebrate 150 years of William Ellis school and raise money for new building works. Highlights will include... The Elysian School Song, The world premier of ‘Rather Use Than Fame’ a fanfare composed by Old Elysian Michael McEvoy and performed by current William Ellis boys, The William Ellis School Wind Ensemble performing music by Old Elysian Adam Gorb and a special performance by Old Elysian's Marcus Bonfanti, Alex Bonfanti and Alexis Nunez and of course performances from some of our own rising stars. LaSwap Winter Concert

Thank you to audience and performers at the winter concert, it was great for the students to be able to perform to a packed out audience. 

Michael McEvoy Workshops

Last Tuesday Michael McEvoy (Old Elysian) came into school lead a masterclass with A Level Music Technology students and rehearse a fanfare he has composed especially to mark the 150th of William Ellis School. Michael is an award-winning screen composer, orchestrator and multi-instrumentalist. His credits include performing, writing and producing music for film and TV,as well as working with some of the biggest names in popular music. The fanfare will be receiving its world premiere at the 150th Gala concert on the 5th December.

Adam Gorb Workshops

On Tuesday 13th November Old Elysian and Head of Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester came in to lead a series of rehearsals, masterclasses and workshops with students. Adam listened to many students’ compositions giving them pointers on how to develop their ideas further and spoke to our older students about further study beyond the 6th form. He also rehearsed the wind ensemble who will be performing a piece of music composed by Adam at the 150th Gala Concert on the 5th December.

Y7 House Winter Celebration

On the 19th December from 6.30pm-7.30pm, William Ellis will be hosting a short carol concert. Mince pies & mulled wine will be available. Everyone is welcome to join us for a group sing song before Christmas!

Illuminati

Working on Baroque and Classical repertoire with the internationally renowned Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Illuminati seeks string players working at grade 5 and recorder players grade 6 . There is a taster day taking place at Camden School for Girls on Sunday 18th November 10am-5pm. If you are interested please email me- jackman@williamellis.camden.sch.uk

Royal Academy of Music Boulez Project 

Here is a short slideshow of a recent project a few year 9, 10 and 11 boys took part in with the Royal Academy of Music culminating in a performance of an original group composition inspired by Pierre Boulez.
