White Water Rafting

Year 10 visit to Lee Valley White Water Centre

On the 26th March 2012 we took a small group of Year 10 students to Lee Valley, the London 2012 Olympic Kayak site, to experience white water rafting for the first time.

The students were selected due to their excellent record of behaviour and achievement but are pupils that do not always get the recognition they deserve.

The outing proved to be a great experience for our group of pupils who had an excellent time. They spent time learning about the safety precautions that they needed to take in order to navigate the course but also what to do if the boat capsized. How better to practise this learning than to jump into the moving rapids and float downstream? All 7 intrepid adventurers took the plunge into the chilly water and did their best to smile about it. (Check out the pictures in the PE gallery!)

Finally they got the chance to take on the course. They travelled the length of the rapids, without incident, three times in total. Check out the video of their final run below.

A great experience, thanks Lee Valley!
