Autumn Term - 10th October 2025

Welcome to our latest news update, including information from our Key Stage 4 parents' information evening, opportunities for young people in Camden and details of our upcoming William Ellis Trust launch event on Thursday 23rd October.

Key Stage 4 parents' information event: reflections on Monday 6th October

It was great to see so many parents and carers at our evening event on Monday, where we shared information about the Key Stage 4 experience for years 10 and 11. This included:

  •  CURRICULUM AND EXAMINATIONS
  •  INFORMATION FROM CORE SUBJECTS
  •  YEAR 11: MOCK EXAMINATIONS AND POST 16 OPTIONS
  •  YEAR 10: MANAGING EXAM PRESSURE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

The presentation from the evening for both year groups, including links to the provisional exam timetables for summer 2026, can be found on both year group pages on our website:

William Ellis School - Year 11

William Ellis School - Year 10

Please note that the examination board information on linked pages is in the process of being updated and this will be shared with parents by October half term.

William Ellis Trust Event, 23rd October

The William Ellis Trust works on behalf of our school and the local community to develop and support initiatives that add genuine value to the education of our students.

We'd like to remind you that the Trust is hosting a special event in the last week of this half term to launch a new phase of their work supporting the education and life chances of the pupils at William Ellis School.

Parents and carers are welcome to join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion and celebration as we welcome renowned writer, broadcaster, and podcaster Alastair Campbell for a special conversation with William Ellis students. Together, they will explore themes of community, identity, and positive masculinity – values that lie at the heart of our school's ethos and the Trust's vision. There will be Q&A within the discussion, allowing you to be part of the conversation.

Date: Thursday 23rd October 2025
Time: Guests are welcome to arrive from 5.45pm with the conversation starting from 6.15pm. The event will run until 9pm.
Venue: William Ellis School, Highgate Road, London, NW5 1RN

Please RSVP by securing your free ticket via Eventbrite here.

If you’d like to donate to support the Trust's work you can do so here.

KS5 Success in Mathematical Competition for Girls

Sixth Form students recently participated in the Mathematical Competition for Girls hosted by Highgate School, demonstrating an enthusiasm for problem-solving and mathematics.

Congratulations to Weny in Year 12, who was awarded a Merit, to Eva, also in Year 12, and to Jessica and Lara in Year 13.

The competition provided a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves and explore creative ways to think mathematically. They showed impressive focus, perseverance, and teamwork throughout the event.

Camden Participatory Giving

We are so excited to be involved with this project, where people who have a stake in Camden, because they are residents, or attend school there, are able to make decisions about which local charities should receive grants to help them with their work.

On Monday, we will be asking Sixth Form students to apply to take part in the first round of grant giving decisions. Students need to be able to participate in two workshops in the last week of this half term, and will be paid £16.05 per hour!

Full details will be published in assembly on Monday – so please make sure your KS5 son / daughter attends!

This Week's WESPA Round-Up:

Dear families,

Thank you to those who filled out the short WESPA questionnaire last week. Although only a handful of replies, there was a clear wish for ways to bring our community together and opportunities to share ideas and knowledge. Read on for what’s coming up on that front. If you’d like to share your thoughts, it would be really welcome. Here is the form link again:

When: Saturday, 11th October

What time: 11am onwards

Social #2

Where: Duke of St Albans, 15 Highgate Rd, London NW5 1QX

When: Saturday, 25th October

What time: 7pm onwards

WES Fun Run and Quiz

With news just in that the Fun Run has been moved to the spring term this gives us a great reason to move the fabled WESPA Quiz forward to this term.  For new parents, this is a really fun get together in the Hall at school with pizza and, as the name might suggest, a great quiz!

It will be after half term and if anybody would like to be involved with the running of it, please email williamellispa@gmail.com. More information soon.

Have a great weekend and see you at the cafe on Saturday morning!

Best wishes,

Al
