Chicks project

After two happy weeks at WES, chicks go home

We were sorry to see our chicks leave WES after another successful hatching project run by Ms Cooper and Ms Ward.  The boys enjoyed watching 8 out of 9 eggs hatch and handling them as they grew quickly over the two weeks.  Just before they left us their legs had got longer, they developed a bit of an attitude, made more of a smelly mess and started spreading their wings.  (chicks not Year 11s!)

Once back on the farm in Yorkshire, the two males will be kept for their breeding programme; some of the hens may be kept for laying but may be given to small-holdings and primary schools in the farm's local area.
