World Book Day celebrations

This week we have been celebrating 25 years of World Book Day.

To mark this annual event in celebration of the written word, students in Key Stage 3 had special World Book Day assemblies, during which they learnt about some of their teachers' favourite books and what inspires them to read.

The short film made by staff and students can be seen below:

A number of students in Years 7, 8 and 9 attended a virtual author talk with writer Rob Williams. He talked about the history of his series 'Roy of the Rovers' and how he develops exciting story lines around the trials and tribulations of football. His work with Marvel and DC is also fascinating and students learnt about how these graphic novels are created through close collaboration between writer, artist and editor. We look forward to working with Rob Williams again in the future.

All students will also benefit from our school's renewed subscription to ePlatfrom for eBooks and eAudiobooks,  allowing them to read and listen to books at home (or even their way to and from school) on their devices.
