In February 2026, William Ellis School began developing our new Primary Engagement Programme, incorporating a range of events, activities and workshops for children in Years 4 and 5 that will provide memorable experiences and support their transition into secondary school.
These sessions are both staff and student led, taking place here at William Ellis, at primary schools, and even on our neighbouring Hampstead Heath.
We offer sessions in Languages, Science, Drama, Outdoor Learning and Art, craft and design,. Workshops are suitable for both boys and girls, are available for larger or smaller groups and can be adapted for a range of needs.
We believe that this collaborative programme for Year 4 and Year 5 students from local primary schools is to the mutual benefit of both schools and students.
Here is a taster of some of the sessions we have run with local schools:
A group of students from Years 9, 10 and 11 went to Gospel Oak Primary school as part of their Languages Day to present a mini language lesson in French, Spanish and German to some of the classes.

The William Ellis boys were all fantastic. They spoke with such confidence and clarity, and we really liked how they all assisted even if they weren’t the ones leading the session. The children at Gospel Oak really enjoyed the lessons and games and the prizes made it feel extra special.
We really appreciate all the work and time that clearly went into the fantastic presentations and getting the boys ready to present in such an engaging manner.
Boys from Hawley Primary school came to William Ellis for a morning and took part in practical Drama and Science sessions supported by Year 8 students.

Our children loved their morning with you so we very much appreciate all of the effort your team made with them.
