Every year, we take all of our Year 7 students to The Mill. We have placed the Year 7 camp at the very beginning of the academic year as a way for students to initiate team building, bonding and cohesion throughout the year group from the very start. We value or outdoor education program here at William Ellis, and see camp as an important way to kickstart the boys’ journey and education with us.
This camp will consist of team building exercises such as: rocket building, egg dropping, low ropes, a night line, a stunning walk through the Surrey Hills and many more exciting activities.
The first camp in Year 7 may well be the very first time a student has ever been away from his family for an extended period of time. For this reason, we like to start their residential trip experience with just a two-and-a-half-day camp, spending just two nights at The Mill. Not only is this an extremely good way to meet and interact with their new peers, but also to meet and get to know their new form tutors, with whom they will spend the next five years.
