William Ellis Sixth Form Marks Exceptional A Level Achievement

On national A Level results day, students and staff across William Ellis sixth form marked a host of impressive A Level and vocational achievements. Years of hard work, determination and commitment have translated into exceptional academic outcomes, leaving students well placed to move into varied and rewarding futures that will benefit both their communities and wider society. Joining the celebrations were Tim Aldridge, Executive Director of Children and Learning at Camden Council and Councillor Sabrina Francis, and of course students and staff from the other LaSWAP schools.

 

Close to 80% of this year's students achieved sought-after A* - C grades at A Level or equivalent, providing a solid platform for future success. Performance was especially notable in Biology, Computer Science, History, Economics, Politics, Sociology and English Literature. These outcomes demonstrate not just strong academic ability but also the perseverance that has defined our students across their years of study.

William Ellis graduates are heading in an impressive variety of directions. Once again, we have students who have chosen to study performance related subjects, including dance and music production. Students have achieved the required results to progress onto a number of different pathways, including a prestigious internship with Goldman Sachs.

Many will study competitive, cutting-edge and in-demand subjects, from neuroscience, civil engineering and mathematics to cybersecurity, law, economics and medical sciences. Leading institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford, UCL, Kings and Leeds have offered places to our students, with numerous confirmed spots at these top universities. Other students have opted for apprenticeships, building hands-on experience and industry qualifications through carefully planned career routes, while others are going to study internationally. These students reflect the school's values and motto, "rather of use than fame", showing their dedication to making a genuine difference in society and underlining the role active citizenship plays in a fulfilling life.

 

Celebrating Stand-Out Performances

Alongside this collective success, a number of individual achievements stand out, each showing the ownership our students take of their own learning. Many have been part of the William Ellis community since Year 7. This year's stand-out performers include:

• Luca Frodsham: A*A*A (Biology, Chemistry, Maths) going to read Natural Sciences at Cambridge
• Istihaq Hussain: A*A*A (Biology, RS, Chemistry) going to read Biology at Oxford
• Lydia Burrowes: A*AA (Sociology, History, Politics) going to read Human, Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge
• Abdulillah Oulaad Saad: A*AA (Computer Science, Economics, Maths) going to read Computer Science at KCL
• Tanbir Ahmed: D*D in Business BTEC and B in Maths Studies and C in EPQ – going to do an internship at Goldman Sachs.
• Mashfi Karim: AAB (Economics, Maths, Chemistry) going to study the foundation degree course in Chemistry at Oxford.
• Arrow Khitarishvili-Awde AAB (Biology, Chemistry, Music) going to study medicine at Tibilisi State Medical University in Georgia.

Abdulillah, Tanbir, Mashfi & Arrow have spent seven years at WES from the start of Year 7, and others joined us for Sixth Form within the LaSWAP consortium. Every student's path has been different, shaped by ambition, persistence and outstanding achievement, built on genuine reflection about their own learning and development.

Headteacher, Izzy Jones, commented:

"These results are a genuine reflection of hard work, resilience and ambition. Our Year 13 students have earned places at excellent universities and on strong career pathways, and the range of subjects and routes they're pursuing shows just how much talent this year group has. They've been fantastic role models for our younger students, and we're excited to see where they go next."

Our students have thrived regardless of the challenges that many individuals have faced and this  reflects both their own resilience and the strength of the relationships across William Ellis and the broader LaSWAP consortium. During their time at the school, students have had access to tailored support and guidance rooted in strong staff-student relationships, including personalised academic mentoring, enrichment opportunities, careers guidance and university preparation, giving every individual the chance to flourish as both a successful student and an engaged citizen.

William Ellis Sixth Form takes pride in an inclusive culture built on respect for diversity.
